Okay, with the English-speaking world now getting into MH3 and the online servers being up from today (apparently) I thought it wise to point out a few things that should be remembered when playing with others.
DO
+ Know your enemy. Google is there for a reason!
+ Ask if you don't know what a good strategy is. If people laugh at you just walk away. They're blatantly c*nts that you don't really want to play with anyway.
+ Use a variety of weapons and armour.
+ Change weapons before joining a quest, and take a weapon that has an elemental association that the monster you'll be fighting is weak against (if you have one).
+ Grab as much stuff from around the field as you can as you'll need it.
+ Use the offline farm to grow stuff - honey is the #1 most important. I grow seeds to make money and would advise you to do the same.
+ Same goes for the fishing boats, ALWAYS have them out fishing.
+ Trade for items with the visiting trader.
+ Only buy stuff from the shop in the village when the trader is there - 50% off will save you a LOT of money.
+ Bowgunners, read the above again. THIS MEANS YOU.
+ Take what you need. As a rule of thumb, take both lots of healing potion, that dust that heals the whole party, hot drinks AND cold drinks, and always take Great Picks with you to get ore. These are needed for fighting Jien Moran as well. When you get that far.
DON'T
- DON'T TRY TO FIGHT EVIL JOE yet. His missions are 6*. You cannot win if you're not AT LEAST HR40+, and even then you may well get wasted.
- Hit your fellow hunters while they're trying to do damage to the beasties.
- Get cocky. That'll get you killed and maybe everyone in your party.
- Play online with a weapon you've never used before against a monster you've never fought before. This should be obvious. WAKE UP FOOL!
- Be an arse. Players want to have a good time while fighting monsters, they don't want to be insulted by little shits who need a good slapping.
- Expect miracles. Being a good hunter takes time, practice and experience.
If I think of more I'll post them up later on. Happy hunting folks.

ReplyDeleteVery nice and also, for longsword users, please don't spam spirit combo. Get to yellow and try not to hit your friends
ReplyDeleteWhen carving a monster like Alatreon,... dont be an arse and kick ur teammate while he is trying to carve.
ReplyDeleteHeres some other DOs and DONTs:
ReplyDeleteDOs:
-Always Evade when you strike a big monster or a boss.
-If you have S&S , only strike a boss with one combo then evade
DONT:
-With GS , Hit everything in your way.
-Dont friendly fire with BG.
-Dont be a quest hog! Let others choose quests too!
-Dont brag about armors you have(Lagiacrus,Rath,Barrioth etc.)
-Dont lie about monsters you slayed.
(HR1: I slayed an Alatreon with Iron Sword)
(HR1: I slayed an Alatreon with Iron Sword) If someone has done this they cheated. The only hack's I would support would be for new monsters or areas offline, or new gear that falls within the standard ranges for when the basic stuff gets old (or to get the japanese only gear for fun). Stuff that you still need to be a good hunter for and that doesn't affect those you play with, making this game enjoyable for all is always a must. Using a hack that makes the game harder for you offline I say go for it(cheating like stated above ruins the game), as it makes you a better hunter then good job. This game is about challenge so when things get mundane give yourself a new one so you don't get bored.
